Who we are
This website is operated by Joy August, a certified breathwork coach offering breathwork, shadow work, and soul coaching. In these Terms, "we", "us", and "our" mean that practice, and "you" means you, the visitor.
By using this website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What you should know at a glance
- Breathwork is a physical practice with real risks. Please read the safety section below.
- Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or medical care.
- Nothing is sold on this website. The buttons book a free introductory call.
- If you are in crisis, please use the emergency resources noted below rather than this form.
- Disputes are handled under Nevada law, starting with a conversation.
Breathwork carries physical risk
Conscious connected breathing deliberately changes your breathing pattern for an extended period. That is what makes it effective, and it is also why it is not risk-free. During or after a session it is common to experience light-headedness, tingling, temporary muscle tightening in the hands or face, changes in body temperature, crying, shaking, or intense emotional release.
Breathwork may not be safe for you if any of the following apply. This list is not exhaustive:
- pregnancy;
- cardiovascular conditions, including high or unstable blood pressure, or a history of heart attack or stroke;
- epilepsy or a seizure disorder;
- aneurysm, or a family history of aneurysm;
- severe asthma or other significant respiratory conditions;
- glaucoma or retinal detachment;
- recent surgery or physical injury;
- osteoporosis;
- a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or psychosis, or current psychiatric medication;
- a history of severe mental health difficulty, including hospitalisation.
You are responsible for telling Joy about anything on this list before a session, and for checking with your doctor if you are unsure. Joy is not a medical professional and cannot assess whether a condition makes breathwork unsafe for you. If you withhold relevant information, she cannot keep you safe.
Never practice breathwork while driving, in or near water, or anywhere a loss of awareness could cause harm. You may stop a session at any time, for any reason.
Coaching, not therapy or medical care
Joy August is a certified breathwork coach. She is not a licensed therapist, psychologist, counsellor, or physician, and does not hold herself out as any of those.
What is offered through this practice is not:
- psychotherapy, counselling, or mental health treatment;
- diagnosis or treatment of any physical or mental health condition;
- medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice;
- a substitute for care from a licensed professional; or
- a confidential relationship of the kind that exists with a licensed therapist or doctor. No privilege arises, and HIPAA does not apply.
Please do not delay or stop care from a licensed professional because of anything on this website or anything said in a session. If something in your situation calls for clinical care, Joy will say so and encourage you toward it.
If you are in crisis
This website is not monitored for emergencies and messages may not be read for some time. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24 hours a day.
No promised outcome
Testimonials on this website describe the experience of specific people. They are not a prediction or guarantee of what breathwork or coaching will do for you, and no particular result is promised.

Content on this website
The writing, images, and design on this site belong to us or are used with permission. You may read, share links to, and quote short extracts with attribution. You may not republish substantial portions, or use the content commercially, without permission.
Articles on this site are general education and reflection. They are not tailored to your circumstances and are not a substitute for advice from someone who knows your situation.
Content you submit
When you send a message through the contact form you keep ownership of what you wrote. You give us permission to read it, store it, and reply. We will not publish it or use it in marketing without asking you first.
Please do not send confidential information or anyone else's personal details through the form. Email is not a secure medium — see the Privacy Policy for how your message is handled.
Booking a call
Nothing is sold on this website. The scheduling buttons take you to a third-party booking tool to arrange a free introductory call. Booking does not create a coaching relationship and commits neither of us to anything. If you and Joy decide to work together, that arrangement — including fees, scheduling, cancellation, and any intake or waiver form — is agreed separately and is not governed by these Terms.
Prices shown on this website are indicative, may change, and are not an offer to contract.
Corporate retreats and group sessions
Where an organization books a group session, the agreement is with that organization and is set out separately. Individual participants take part voluntarily, the safety information above applies to each of them, and no one is required to disclose health information to their employer in order to take part.
Links and third-party services
This site links to other places, including social accounts and a scheduling tool. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave.
Accessibility
We want this site to be usable by everyone. If you hit a barrier, please tell us and we will try to fix it or get you the information another way.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something here infringes your copyright, contact us with enough detail to identify the work, where it appears, and how to reach you.
Communications
If you contact us, you agree that we may reply by email. If you subscribe to anything you can unsubscribe at any time, and doing so will not affect replies to a message you sent.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Disclaimer of warranties
This website and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", and you use them at your own risk. To the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all warranties, express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free, or that the content is complete or current.
Assumption of risk
If you choose to practice any breathing technique described on this website, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk, having read the safety section above.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages; for lost profits, data, or goodwill; or for loss arising from unauthorized access to your information. Our total liability for any claim relating to this website will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Some states do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, damage, loss, liability, cost, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from your use of this website, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your violation of anyone else's rights.
Resolving a dispute
Talk to us first
Before filing anything, send written notice of the dispute through the contact form, describing the problem, what you want, and how to reach you. We will do the same. Both sides agree to try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days after that notice.
Binding arbitration
If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or this website will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its applicable rules. Arbitration takes place in Clark County, Nevada, unless we agree otherwise or the arbitrator allows a remote hearing.
No class actions
All claims must be brought individually. Neither of us may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in a class, consolidated, or representative action. If this waiver is found unenforceable, the whole arbitration section does not apply and disputes go to court.
Jury trial waiver
To the extent any dispute proceeds in court instead of arbitration, both of us waive any right to a trial by jury.
Time limit for claims
Any claim relating to these Terms or this website must be brought within one year after it arises, unless the law where you live does not allow that limit.
Governing law and venue
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict of law principles. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, both of us consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada.
General
We may update these Terms; when the substance changes, the date at the top changes with it, and continuing to use the site means you accept the update. If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something once does not waive it. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about this website. You may not assign them; we may, as part of a transfer of the practice. We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing here creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship. The safety, disclaimer, liability, indemnity, and dispute-resolution sections survive if you stop using the site.
